On Wednesday, 06 September 2023, a conference on the agroecological intensification of shifting cultivation systems for the promotion of food security in the peri-urban forest areas of Tshopo province in the Democratic Republic of Congo was held in the ERAIFT conference room. This event, rich in scientific information, was moderated by Mr. Jeremy BERDY, PhD student at Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech/Université de Liège within the framework of the RESSAC project. The conference was attended by ERAIFT researchers, AGIFT and TAF students from the 4th promotion, and those from the 5th promotion of the core curriculum. The conference focused on two main points: presentation of the RESSAC project run by the ULiège-ERAIFT-ENABEL consortium, and the issue of post-harvest losses. With regard to the RESSAC project, the speaker first demonstrated its coherence with sustainable development, then presented its main objectives, namely: to organize and support applied research, and to promote the implementation and monitoring of policies and aid in favor of sustainable development. The project will support one doctoral research project and seven others at Master's level. In his presentation, Mr Jeremy BERDY underlined the relevance of his research project, which focuses on the problem of post-harvest losses, and the methodological approaches involved, including laboratory and field experiments, as well as socio- anthropological dimensions.
